Beyond the space - Star Trek Beyond movie review

The USS Enterprise star fleet are back for its thirteenth film for the Star Trek movie franchise. They continue their journey to space, to explore unknown civilization and to boldly go where no man has gone before. Lead cast Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto reprise their roles as Captain Kirk and Spock, along with Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, who played Sulu that turns out to be gay in the new film and the final appearance of Anton Yelchin, who died in a tragic car accident last month before the release of the movie.

Opening sequence is almost the same with the prior film but nonetheless the scene still gave the audience a fun start. Plot wise, I noticed that there's a "revenge" element in the three films wherein the villain is a former enemy/ally of the enterprise and will require a device to fulfill his vengeance. Also Kirk or Spock will go to a near death experience whenever they face the villain of the story. It's a cycle but as a fan you will still enjoy movies like these.   Cracking of jokes are also quite noticeable in the movie especially Bones and Spock. Knowing that Spock is a half Vulcan, which is understandable that he has a robot-like thinking and very logical most of the times, their punchlines sure gave most of us laughs.

If you're into arts and graphics, you will enjoy the visual effects they used to make the scenery which looks real and superb. Camera angles are shot in the right position and most importantly, you will enjoy watching it in IMAX.

Overall the movie is great. The cast and visuals made the third movie of JJ Abramverse on par with the Star Wars: The force awakens. 9/10 for me.

Watch it watch it! Special thanks to United International Pictures and Geekcraft for the invite.

X-Men: Apocalyspe [Spoiler Review]

Last May 21, I attended the 4th Superfan Screening of Filbars. Screening is quite different if you compare it to the previous screening. I would like to share some insight but I won't elaborate the whole movie. Moving forward to the main topic, the movie starts with a flashback wherein we see ancient civilization ruled by En Sabah Nur a.k.a. Apocalypse. It's quite notable that his 4 horsemen are amusing tho they don't have much screen time. I'm not a solid X-men but his power in the movie is a bit different from the comics as he need to transfer his consciousness to other body to gain the power.

They also reintroduced Jean Grey, Kurt Wagner, Warren, Ororo, Jubilee and Scott Summers in the movie which I think they did a great job portraying their character except for Angel and Jubilee. One problem that I saw in the X-men franchise is that they tend to use a character they won't fully utilize them. I feel bad for them but somehow the managed to entertain us with Quicksilver saving the mutants from explosion ( insert music "Sweet dreams are made of these blah blah blah"). Wolverine also shows for a brief period as he was released from the Weapon X program by Jean Grey. As a Wolverine fan, I saw the rage, the fury of the Wolverine that we should have seen eons ago. He also wore the iconic weapon x suit or should I say the helmet and the wires over his body.

Some says there were only few action scenes but for me it's enough. I saw what I want to seeas the X-men fought Apocalypse with teamwork. Sophie Turner nails it I can't even wait to see her again and the Phoenix Force. One thing that I don't like in the new movie is Mystique. They literally use J-Law's popularity but I don't think Mystique is an essential character but they made her become something important in the franchise.

I don't want to spoil everyone so go out and check the movie.

8/10.

Thor: The Dark World, new trailer

Marvel unveils another new trailer for their Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2 - "Thor: The Dark World". For the second time, Chris Hemsworth is back to play as the God of Thunder. The story is set one year after the events of The Avengers. Thor returns to Earth to fulfill his promise to Jane Foster ( Natalie Portman). Thor battles a race led by (oooops SPOILER ALERT) "Malekith", who is out for revenge, and intends to plunge the nine realms into darkness. You can also spot the return of Tom Hiddleston as the God of mischief, Loki and Anthony Hopkins as the All Father himself, Odin. Can Thor save the nine realms and ready to make the ultimate sacrifice?

Here's the trailer

Watch out Thor as he swings again his hammer at November 8, 2013.

The best there is!

Snikt! Last Thursday I watched another Marvel's movie for 2013, The Wolverine. Seriously I waited years for this movie because Wolverine is my favorite Marvel character. To give you a head's up, the movie was set after X-men 3: The last stand. Logan faces anxiety or somehow nightmare due to what he did to Jean Grey that's why if you watched the movie you can see Jean pops out every time Logan is depress. He goes on wild and tend to go alone but destiny seeks out when he met Yukio and blah blah blah.

Okay, in the film, Logan travels to Japan, where he engages an old acquaintance in a struggle that has lasting consequences. Stripped of his immortality, Wolverine must battle deadly samurai as well as his inner demons. I observed many things regarding the movie (Good and Bad)

1. Stripping out the healing factor - It's a good plot for the movie to do this so we can see what is the real power of the character when he is vulnerable. I read many articles that on the comic book side they were able to also do this. ( Check out Wolverine# 7).

2. Yukio - through out the film whenever I see Yukio I always tell to my girlfriend " si Charice oh cosplayer na!" hahaha. She looks nice and probably she will appear in the comics too due to the hype.

3. Wolverine is not that intelligent in this film- seriously? In the comics, Wolverine is fluent in many languages including English, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Cheyenne, Lakota, and Spanish; he has some knowledge of French, German, Thai, Vietnamese, Farsi and Portuguese. Ogun taught him Japanese ideograms. You can see in the movie that he ask yukio what does it mean whenever he doesn't understand something.

4. Less talk less mistake? - kinda boring but if you watch just to see fight scenes it might satisfy your movie urge.

5. Silver Samurai- I remember my gf asked who was the robot, " Si iron man ba yan or transformers?". Why make it robot? I wish they do the original concept in comics wherein Silver Samurai is a real samurai not just another piece of junk in a suit. ( But the fight scenes are awesome)

WATCH IT OR WOLVERINE WILL SLASH YOU, BUB.

A short glimpse of the future

As SDCC 2013 (San Diego Comic Con) finally unveiled teasers from upcoming Marvel products and movies, fans go wildly with the good news they bring to us. For this post I would like to focus first on "X-men: Days of Future Past".

X-Men: Days of Future Past is an upcoming American superhero film co-written, produced and directed by Bryan Singer and featuring the X-Men characters appearing in Marvel Comics. It is intended to be the seventh installment in the X-Men film series. The screenplay is written by Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn, and Jane Goldman, with Singer writing the story. The movie is based on the 1981 Uncanny X-Men story line "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. It is the third X-Men film directed by Singer after 2000's X-Men and 2003's X2.

Meet cast from Days of the Future Past.

Future Wolverine (of upcoming Wolverine movie) who travels in the past for his mission 70s.Wolverine who just escaped from Stryker's Island in X-Men Origins. Professor X and Magneto in future and Omer Sy as Bishop and Daniel Cudmore as Colossus.

Halle Berry as Storm
Lineup looks amazing what do you think?

Personally this sentinel head is what I am waiting for. For the past X-men movies, it's only a shadow figure and broken sentinel head that appears in X-men: the last stand. I dunno for the other fans but an X-men movie should compose of mutants and of course sentinels! I can't wait to watch this awesome movie.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to be released on May 23, 2014.
