All new and All different Toycon!

Toycon is considered as a con to watched out for all toy hunters in the Philippines. Whether you collect Marvel and DC action figures, Gunpla, Hotwheels, Dolls, Figuarts, Die Casts, Statues and other stuff, this is the real deal. This is the place where you can find the toy that you wanted when you were a kid or the missing piece in your collection.

However, with the sudden announcement
of the ticket price, some people don't seem to like the idea of change. The increase of the ticket price was unreasonable at first but for me, it's damn worth it tho I'm hesitant to go in the first place.

I've been attending toycon for a few years and I can say that there are numerous problems. First, is the place. It's like you're in an air conditioned Divi but with less wild people. Lot of people roaming around, taking pictures, and looking for the toys. If you're a cosplayer and wearing heavy armor, props in all your body, sweat all over because of the heat but you have to act in character and roam around, I can say that you're really have the passion and love on what you were doing. That is why i salute all the cosplayers who gave an extra excitement and a plus factor in the event. Let' us be frank here, people love to take  selfies with them, especially with a hottie cosplayer, right??? Ooopppss!! :) Cheers to all the cosplayers for surviving the event!! Second is the Food area. you can't properly eat with the amount of people and extreme heat ( For me coz I sweat a lot). But if you are hungry as hell, i don't think that it will matter.

Nevertheless, this year's Toycon is a game changer. It happened last June 10-12 at SMX convention center. A larger location that can cater more congoers. The gigantic Voltes V is this year's main attraction with the 22 ft iconic robot. Lot of people took  with it, who wouldn't  if you see that gigantic robot right? Of course i'm one of that people. Anyways, they also have a Stan Lee area where you can see stuff with his signatures, like a lot of signatures. a lot of guest like Hodor from Game of Thrones, Mario Maurer, Dean Cain, Pat Lee and many more.

Things that i enjoyed were the tons of booths where you can find great stuff tho I wasn't able to find the Pizza Spidey :( the display area from different toy groups, like I can stare at the display cabs for a long period of time. Gigantic Funkos and NBA players statues that were also selfie catching for the people. Lots of stuff I can't even put it all here hahaha.

The last flaw that we just noticed was the.....space management. Yeah it's spacious especially on the right side, likke more people on the selling area that leads to less people going to the artist alley. I also didn't see the point of putting colorful stuff at the center and the lighting was bad.

Weighing the good and bad, I can say Toycon 2016 is still good. The excitement and thrill of toy hunting is still there. Meeting fellow collectors and gaining new friends would be the real highlight of Toycon 2016. It's a great start to level up the pop culture convention knowing that Asia Pop Comicon will be back this August.

Superhero movies and evolution of viewers

2016 is a great year for all the geeks as we saw the debut of DC's trinity at Batman v Superman, first solo film of Deadpool, the most anticipated civil war and recently X- men Apocalypse. In this digital age, movie viewers tend to rely on reviews which can also affect the performance in sales of the movie. Good example is The Amazing Spider-man 2, for me it's a good movie but some douchebags posted spoilers in the social media which results in disappointment for moviegoers which leads to poor sales and cancellation of the franchise. The movie might have flaws but the consistency and story is right there but unfortunately we won't be able to see what will happen next since Spider-man's rights are back to Marvel Studios/ Disney.

BvS also suffered that same fate tho if you think about the movie plot wise, kinda shallow (Martha!) But I enjoyed the movie. Civil War is also criticized by netizens saying it doesn't follow the comics (meh! You just googled it don't call yourself a Marvel Geek).

To conclude this nonsense article just enjoy the movie. Don't say negative comments even though you haven't seen the movie yet. If you're a Marvel fan that's good, if you're more of DC that's also good. After all it's a win win situation because we're able to see our favorite characters in the big screen.

PS
Don't spoil the movie to anyone. Don't be that shit :)

To become something else

“Akala mo magaling ka, yun pala marunong ka lang” I remember this post as I browse my facebook news feed. This might be the first time that I will post something way out of geek stuff coz I just want to express what’s on my mind. I’m in the process of coping up with my new job and I could say that my performance is quite not good. My previous work doesn’t require any mental activity wherein you are being push into your limits. In short “hayahay ang buhay” and it’s not related from the course that I took at college. For almost 2 years my mind was put on suspended animation. Then right now in my new job where I work for (Name of an Avenger who died by catching bullets to save Hawkeye and that freaking child), things are not good for me.

Due to the years working under BPO, I find it hard to catch up with the retail industry. Feels like I’m back to noobie level where I can’t even explain what is marketing and the current trends. All those creative ideas, stratagems and even business ethics are now gone. Even my superiority complex fades away because I know I don’t have any idea what’s happening. I sounded like a douchebag na nga due to my lack of my communication skills. This is the time where I felt yung “Walang madaling trabaho” feeling. So what are my options? Give up or fight? These are the moments in our lives that we can learn a lot from experience. I think of it the other way around like it’s some sort of challenge. My friend (Andi) once told me “How do I eat an Elephant?” I didn’t get it of course but then she added, “Divide and conquer”. No need to rush things and timing is also important. It’s okay to fail but don’t make the same mistake twice but if you failed again eh di wow! Kidding aside, those are fine as long as there is learning and use it in order to develop yourself. To save yourself you need to be someone else, you need to be something else ( Naks! Green Arrow!)

It's a sign! Reinvent!
