Incredibles 2 in 2018

It looks like we're going to see first the superhero Mr. Incredible and his family before we see the new adventures of Woody and the gang. Last Wednesday, Pixar announced that sequel for The Incredibles will hit the theaters on June 15, 2018, a year earlier before its original planned date while Toy Story 4 will move from 2018 to June 21, 2019.

According to a Disney insider, the two films are swapping dates due to an accelerated production schedule for Incredibles 2. Brad Bird is still the man in charge for Incredibles 2, his 2004 movie grossed $633 million globally, including $70.4 million domestically, the second-biggest opening at the time for an animated film and won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. As for Toy Story 4, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will return. Unfortunately we still don't know if Andy is still part of the movie.

Apparently, Pixar has been putting a lot more time to produce sequels to their successful movies like Finding Nemo, Cars and Monster Inc. Despite the time it took to produce a sequel rest assured that these movies are worth the wait, after all Pixar movies are all part of our childhood

Beyond the space - Star Trek Beyond movie review

The USS Enterprise star fleet are back for its thirteenth film for the Star Trek movie franchise. They continue their journey to space, to explore unknown civilization and to boldly go where no man has gone before. Lead cast Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto reprise their roles as Captain Kirk and Spock, along with Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, who played Sulu that turns out to be gay in the new film and the final appearance of Anton Yelchin, who died in a tragic car accident last month before the release of the movie.

Opening sequence is almost the same with the prior film but nonetheless the scene still gave the audience a fun start. Plot wise, I noticed that there's a "revenge" element in the three films wherein the villain is a former enemy/ally of the enterprise and will require a device to fulfill his vengeance. Also Kirk or Spock will go to a near death experience whenever they face the villain of the story. It's a cycle but as a fan you will still enjoy movies like these.   Cracking of jokes are also quite noticeable in the movie especially Bones and Spock. Knowing that Spock is a half Vulcan, which is understandable that he has a robot-like thinking and very logical most of the times, their punchlines sure gave most of us laughs.

If you're into arts and graphics, you will enjoy the visual effects they used to make the scenery which looks real and superb. Camera angles are shot in the right position and most importantly, you will enjoy watching it in IMAX.

Overall the movie is great. The cast and visuals made the third movie of JJ Abramverse on par with the Star Wars: The force awakens. 9/10 for me.

Watch it watch it! Special thanks to United International Pictures and Geekcraft for the invite.

Superhero movies and evolution of viewers

2016 is a great year for all the geeks as we saw the debut of DC's trinity at Batman v Superman, first solo film of Deadpool, the most anticipated civil war and recently X- men Apocalypse. In this digital age, movie viewers tend to rely on reviews which can also affect the performance in sales of the movie. Good example is The Amazing Spider-man 2, for me it's a good movie but some douchebags posted spoilers in the social media which results in disappointment for moviegoers which leads to poor sales and cancellation of the franchise. The movie might have flaws but the consistency and story is right there but unfortunately we won't be able to see what will happen next since Spider-man's rights are back to Marvel Studios/ Disney.

BvS also suffered that same fate tho if you think about the movie plot wise, kinda shallow (Martha!) But I enjoyed the movie. Civil War is also criticized by netizens saying it doesn't follow the comics (meh! You just googled it don't call yourself a Marvel Geek).

To conclude this nonsense article just enjoy the movie. Don't say negative comments even though you haven't seen the movie yet. If you're a Marvel fan that's good, if you're more of DC that's also good. After all it's a win win situation because we're able to see our favorite characters in the big screen.

PS
Don't spoil the movie to anyone. Don't be that shit :)

The Minds behind Inside Out

Have you ever imagined what’s happening inside your mind? Well let’s not talk about the emotions and tackle what’s in the inside of the one of the most anticipated animated movies of the year, Inside out. The press conference was held at Makati Shangri-La Hotel and hosted by Issa Litton. The program started with a short introduction from Amit Malhotra, General Manager, Studio Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company, and Southeast Asia. He said that he wants to bring the Disney/ Pixar fans closer to the movies by doing such events in order for them to get a once in a lifetime experience to meet the creative minds behind Inside Out. Director Pete Docter together with his Pinoy Co-director Ronnie Del Carmen entered the scene with a short flashy dance moves that made us laugh. They had a short talk regarding their trip and they said for the past 12 hours all they did was eating. This is also a homecoming for Del Carmen who’s been away in the Philippines for almost 30 years. Then the program continued with questions from various networks and bloggers.

The concept of the movie came from Pete as he wonder his own daughter, Ellie, who goes to a lot of changes as she faces life. The movie took for almost 5 years to finish and Docter’s daughter is 16 now, admitted that she likes the movie. They even called the experts like psychologists for them to understand what emotions are. It was said that they had to narrow down the emotions from 27 up to 5, Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Anger that is present in the movie. It wasn’t hard for them to direct the movie because of the team who gave their best to finish the work. Del Carmen also said that there are many pinoys who also works at pixar “Pixnoy” as he called it. He gave an inspiring message for the Filipino artists to go beyond their limits, finish what they started, share what you do and ask for feedbacks which will help you develop into much better person.

The last question we heard is about the theory that all Pixar characters co-exist in one universe which is also the question I would like to ask them and their answer was, “No”. They don’t believe that characters co-exist in one universe although they have some easter eggs present in all movies but the theory of co-existing was never a part of their intentions when making a movie. But who knows we might see it if Pixar wants it. Docter and Del Carmen are also present in the invite only red carpet premiere, August 7 at IMAX SM Aura in Taguig. It is the only time that the movie will be shown in IMAX here in the Philippines. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the red carpet due to work but I’m happy enough to see the creative masterminds of the movie. Inside Out will hit the theatres on August 19.

PS
I would like to see the DC Universe’s emotional spectrum in this movie. JK

ONELASTTIME

Few hours ago, Hugh Jackman posted it on his facebook page telling his fans that this is his last time putting his claws. We all know that he play Wolverine from various X-Men movies and even having his own solo movie. Many fans are disappointed of the news since most of us don't like reboot nonetheless you are not good in portraying your character. As a long time Wolverine fan, I can't figure out who can be the next Wolverine because in my point of view he's the right Wolverine despite the height differences in the comics. And for #OneLastTime I would like to see him play the Wolverine in berserker mode especially there are speculations that the last movie is all about "Old Man Logan".

To anyone who read this what do you want to see in the last Wolverine movie? #ONELASTTIME

Think Big!

The smallest hero to conclude the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2

It’s very unexpected for a not well known hero to have a blockbuster movie even having the thought of having his own movie is really surprising. Ant-man for consecutive weekends is at number 1 and topping “Pixels”. Marvel studios has now made $226.5 million globally and more than $106 million in the United States.

To give you a short background, there are different people who wore the Ant-man suit in Marvel Comics but the most popular from them is Dr. Hank Pym. He is a scientist who discovers the Pym particles (the size manipulating particles). One thing that most comic book readers cannot forget about Hank is beating his wife Janet Van Dyne. He is also a founding member of the Avengers but in the movie, he is an old scientist and considered as an urban legend because of his Ant-man missions while working for shield. Then the second Ant-man is Scott Lang, which is the protagonist in the movie. He is a thief who wants a shot for his redemption in order to give something good for his daughter, Cassie Lang (In the comics, Cassie became a part of Young Avengers and known as Stature).

HENSHIN!
The story is very simple and it tends to target audience that doesn’t have any idea about Ant-man. It’s about Scott Lang helping Dr. Pym to prevent the Ant-man shrinking technology to be replicated by Darren Cross because the technology might go in the wrong hands. The movie is fun to watch because of Michael Peña and his buddies’ crackling jokes that made us laugh all throughout. The difference of the movie from the comics is that Darren Cross, not by Hank Pym, portrays Yellow jacket and he is the villain in the story. I really like the appearance of the Yellowjacket costume especially the two stingers and the helmet that makes me think he could be a great kamen rider, Henshin Hahaha!

Concept Art for Wasp
Easter eggs are also present in the movie. Most notable part is how Anna Akana describes Spider-man in the last part of the movie, "We have a guy who can jump. A guy who can swing. A guy who can crawl up walls." This really implies that it is Spider-man. Also the OsCorp logo at the brief case in the presentation of Yellowjacket tho I'm not sure if it's really an OsCorp logo. The credit scenes tell us many things, first one is Hope Van Dyne as the Wasp. Hank Pym shows to his daughter the prototype wasp he and his wife working on and it's about damn time. The last credit scene shows that Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson found a badly beaten Bucky. It maybe vague for now but in my opinion Steve and Tony already have a faction and finding Bucky/ Winter Soldier should remain secret or might as well Stark will capture him. Enter Ant-man which could play a big role in keeping it a secret either by making them small as they stay hidden or as they accompany Bucky in a safe place. Lots of stuff could happen since in MCU they don't really follow the story in the comics.

Therefore, if you haven't watch Ant-man go give it a try and you may see things differently.

My view on The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The movie was great... end of story. Kidding! Too much awesomeness for this sequel and I highly recommend to watch especially if you've watched the first movie. So let's start!

I'm a huge fan of Spider-man ever since I was a kid and read a lot of comic books from mainstream up to ultimate universe Spider-man. This movie tried to focus a bit more of the ultimate version but there are some parts that are taken from the mainstream universe ( Earth 616 or the universe the all of us knew in the world of comics). This comic book based movie got into the minds and hearts of non- comic book readers because anyone could relate to Peter Parker and it seems that they have knowledge about the story due to the good sequential of the movie.

It has a darker tone wherein they showed the different day to day problems a normal person could encounter in real life. The movie starts with a flash back from the point of view of Richard Parker ( Peter's Dad) which gave us a glimpse of what really happened before and after the night they left Peter to Uncle Ben. It is one of the important part of the movie because it fills out some of the mysteries in the first film. Then enter the character of Max Dillon/ Electro (Jamie Foxx), a man obsessed to Spider-man. It's quite disappointing that his character quickly shifts from good to bad without any good reason. I'm glad that they didn't use the green and yellow spandex suit for him and his electric form looks awesome. Harry Osborn was also introduced in this movie. They revealed that Norman and Harry have a genetic disease but Norman considered it as a gift for Harry. Harry is desperate man trying to find a cure for himself that led to his change in persona or as we all know the Green goblin in this movie. I'm not digging this armored goblin ever since Sam Raimi's Spider-man. I still preferred the one in the comics and I may also consider the ultimate green goblin. Spider-man is also nerfed in this film. If you will observe it carefully some of his punches seems weak because in the comics his strength level is considered as superhuman as he can lift up 10 to 15 tons but he might be restraining himself.

The middle part shows more on Peter and Gwen's relationship. Damn it! They build up their chemistry and everybody love the way they show their affection towards each other through ups and downs. Everybody can relate to them even if you're single right now you will be hook with their chemistry and to add more Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are real life couples but sad thing they did what fanboys thought before. It was a neck breaking scene :'(

The visual effects are superb and you might wish to become Spider-man swinging around the buildings of New York city. Fighting scenes are epic especially the fight between Spider-man and Electro and you know what's nice in this Garfield's Spider-man? He's cracking jokes while fighting crime that gave most of the audience a laughter on their seats. Hello SPARKLES!!!

Watch for some potential EASTER EGGS in the film. They introduced Felicia possibly Felicia Hardy a.k.a. Black Cat an ally/foe/lover of Spider-man in the comics. They also introduced Alistair Smythe who works for Oscorp and he tried to study Electro in the film. In the comics he is known for his menacing "Spider-slayer" so is it possible to see that mini robots on future films? Why not? The shadow figured from the after credits from the first film who questioned Dr. Curt Conners whether he'd told Peter Parker the truth about his father also shows and was named as "Gustav Fiers" or the gentleman. He was asked by Harry to build a team and keep it small. They started with Aleksei Sytsevich by giving a mechanical "Rhino" suit. To sum it up, it teased us for a possible Spider-man vs. Sinister six!

In addition, this movie sequel shows the imperfection of life of Peter Parker. You may have the power but you lose the love of your life. I remember one fellow fanboy (Jm Eñola) told me during FCBD 2012, "no matter what happens, Peter's life will be always like that just like a normal people have." There will always be imperfection and it's up to us how you will cope up and try to make it perfect.

That's it true believers. Amazing and touching movie. 9/10 for me and you should watch it, Sparkles!!!

Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2 special edition DVD box cover has been revealed according to the creator and writer of kick-ass, Mark Millar. Kick-Ass 2 is a 2013 British-American superhero action-comedy film based on the comic book of the same name and Hit-Girl, both by Mark Millarand John Romita, Jr., and is the sequel to the 2010 film Kick-Ass, as well as the second installment of the Kick-Ass film series. The film was written and directed by Jeff Wadlow and co-produced by Matthew Vaughn, who directed the first film.

According to IGN, Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: ‘Kick-Ass 2.’ After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation. When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.

Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes. Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.
